Dr Adnan Kader Sarsur

Dr Adnan Kader Sarsur, an Arab-Israeli, is a distinguished academic and education expert with a strong background in Middle-Eastern History, Geopolitics and International Relations. He completed his PhD with the University of Tel Aviv.  His career includes working with the University of Tel Aviv, the Open University, University of Derby, and the Technological Institute of Jerusalem. Dr Adnan has also participated in international research and conferences in cooperation with Oxford University and the British National Archive.  

 

Dr Adnan was born in Israel into a prominent Arab-Israeli family that has a distinguished history of reconciliation and shared prosperity between Arabs, Jews and Christians. He has inherited and embraced the dynamics of reconciliation such as tolerance, understanding and generosity of spirit which are central to his family tradition.

 

In 1988 he founded the prestigious Arts and Culture Foundation, an international philanthropic and charity foundation with offices in London and Tel Aviv. The organisation is focusing on supporting education, empowerment of youth and women and various arts and culture projects around the world but showing particular focus on the distinct communities in Israel. Since 2016 he is the co-Chairman of the ACF organisation alongside The Most Honourable the Marquess of Reading, Lord Simon Rufus Isaacs. 

 

He has published numerous research publications over the years. These include an examination of the education system during the British Mandate in the Middle East with particular focus on Jerusalem. He has also researched the Ottoman Empire in the geopolitical context of current Turkish leadership and their strategies in the Middle East & North Africa during the past two decades. 

 

Furthermore, he sustains and cherishes his key role as Headmaster for a local high school which is located near Tel Aviv, a high achieving secondary education establishment. This school has been given awards and recognition by many distinguished Israeli government bodies including the Israeli Ministry of  Education. 

Dr Adnan’s interests including reading and writing. His other interests are predominantly outdoors on the family farm, gardening and football.  

 

He speaks Arabic, Hebrew and English. He also speak Ladino, an ancient Judaeo-Spanish language that derived from Latin.
